Another summer of movies has come to an end. Looks like the science fiction movies have won again with a bunch of really good flicks. One of my favorites was “World War Z.” I almost never want to see Zombie type movies, I am more interested in space type movies, however World Way Z was a really good movie with almost no boring parts. In fact it was go, go go all the time until the very end.
As far as the absolute best of the summer movies this year, I would have to go with Star Trek, Into Darkness. Probably one of my favorites because of past Star Trek movies which help develop the different characters. Especially between Capt. Kirk and Spock.
Other really good movies were Oblivion, Superman Man of Steel, Elysium , Iron Man 3, After Earth.
The worst movies
I walked out of “The Lone Ranger” after watching it for about 40 minutes. I guess it was suppose to be funny, but I didn’t hear anyone laughing. Another movie that I walked out on was Riddick, they should have called it “Ridiculous.” Riddick started off bad and got worse, after about 40 minutes I just walked out. (If a movie sucks, I usually leave after I finish my popcorn)
While on the subject of popcorn
What the hell! Popcorn cost $7 or $8 and it sucks. The problem is that it smells great when you first walk in, so you will want to buy some, but after eating about 25% of the bag, you are DONE with it. It’s like chewing on sawdust.
When I was a kid, I remember going to the movies and getting a drink, popcorn, candy, and even one of those big pickles all for about $2.50 The cost of first run movies was 50 cents!
Wow, I must be old! Now going to a movie and getting just popcorn and a couple of cokes for 2 people is about $40
The one thing that has really made a big difference in the past few years
The IMAX 3-D movies. Wow, it’s like you are part of the movie. I know the ticket price is high, but considering a regular movie is now $10, adding another $5 or $6 more for the IMAX experience is worth it. (Considering the movie doesn’t suck).
When it comes to movies, I’ll continue to gripe about the prices, but I’ll still go.
One more thing!
You people who bring your really young kids to the (non-kid) movies instead of hiring a baby sitter, are assholes, and you owe me money! Do me a favor, stop going to the movies, just stay home, or maybe go bowling instead. And you other fools who have to open up your cell phones and start texting people, what the hell are you thinking? That everyone behind wants to see your stupid cell phone, rather than the movie screen?
Anyway, that’s all I have for now.
